On January 4, 2014, at just 17 years old, Mike Nichols’ life was forever changed. During a high school ice hockey game, he suffered a C5 vertebrae fracture, leaving him a quadriplegic. Despite this life-altering injury, Mike has demonstrated extraordinary resilience and determination. Over the years, he has collaborated with numerous organizations to raise funds and awareness for spinal cord injury causes. His partners have included renowned figures and institutions such as the New Jersey Devils alumni, Boomer Esiason, New York Rangers alumni, Eric LeGrand, and the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
After more than a decade of working with these foundations, Mike realized the need to create his own organization—one with a mission centered on providing direct, meaningful support. The Mike Nichols Foundation aims to raise funds to help people living with spinal cord injuries by offering grants for crucial needs like uncovered medical expenses, rehabilitation services, assistive technology, and support programs not covered by insurance.
